Bone Marrow/Solid Organ Transplant

Allogeneic bone marrow transplantation (BMT) is another indication. Patients who undergo BMT have their marrow cells ablated by chemotherapy, and for the first few months following BMT, experience a period of immunodeficiency. This results in insufficient production of IgG or other immunoglobulins. IVIG therapy helps IgG return to normal ranges, until the transplanted marrow starts functioning.
